Michael J. Sharp Scholarship
The Sharp
Scholarship, open to Georgia Law students who have a demonstrated
record of academic excellence and a strong desire and commitment to
practice corporate law in a major metropolitan area outside of the
Southeastern United States, provides tuition assistance. The
scholarship is renewable on the condition that the student achieves
academic excellence in the study of law.
The fund was established in 2006 by a generous gift
from Michael J. Sharp, a 1991 graduate of Georgia Law, who
presently serves as general counsel for the wealth management sector of
CitiGroup, Inc., in New York City. Mr. Sharp is active with
CitiGroup’s CitiSelect Program, an innovative program that CitiGroup
developed to attract gifted lawyers. The CitiSelect Program
offers talented law students a unique career path that enables the
student to obtain legal training at a prestigious New York City law
firm before joining CitiGroup as an in-house counsel.
Mr. Sharp, an native New Yorker, holds an MBA degree from Cornell
University and a BA degree from Fordham University. While he was
a law student at Georgia Law, he served on the editorial board of the
Georgia Law Review and during his third year he served as editor-in
chief. He was a member of the Jessup International Law Moot
Court Team that brought Georgia Law its first national and
international titles.
