New HeinOnline Collection on Animal Law

By Wendy Moore

HeinOnline is a great source for law review articles, but it also has books, newsletters, journals, statutes and case law. One of the newest collections is the Animal Studies: Law, Welfare and Rights Collection. With almost 700 titles, including from the Animal Legal Defense Fund and Animal Welfare Institute, this collection aims to establish the foundational laws pertaining to animals and follow the evolution of these animal rights throughout the years. It includes philosophical books dating back to the 1800s, videos, periodicals, brochures, and more.

Law Dawg of the Month: Bambi

By Anne Burnett

January’s Law Dawg is Bambi, a three year old Beagle mix whose person is 1L Jamie McDowell. Bambi hails from the ruff streets of Phoenix, Arizona. She is still getting used to the greenery in the South as opposed to the arid desert.
Bambi is the best study buddy around, and she has been dubbed the “Legal Beagle.” Her favorite subject is Torts. She commits battery daily, by excessive licking of the face (though she never has intent to harm).
All members of the Law School Community (students, faculty and staff) are invited to submit a photo for possible selection as the Law Dawg. The featured entry for each issue will be selected at random from all entries received. Please note that honorary Law Dawgs (i.e. those of the feline, equine, porcine, avian, etc. persuasion) are eligible as well. Please send your Law Dawg photo(s) to
