Kyle Lisk: New Night Circulation Assistant
|
|
|
We
are very excited to welcome Kyle Lisk as the new late night Circulation Assistant
at the Law Library. He will be keeping everything running smoothly from 5
pm to 2 am.
Kyle is a graduate of the University of Georgia where he earned a BFA with
a concentration in graphic design. While a student at UGA, Kyle was in charge
of the Graphic Design Lab Monitor Program which provided late night access
for the graphic design students. Kyle was responsible for development
and implementation of the program and for making sure the lab was staffed.
If you think Kyle looks familiar you might have seen him when you visited
the Winterville Public Library. Kyle has been a volunteer at that library
for the past year.
In his free time Kyle enjoys reading, drawing, and listening music. Come by the circulation desk after five and say hi to Kyle.

Special Collections
by Special Collections Librarian Sharon Bradley
|
|
Every
academic law library has shelves full of reporters, statutes and regulations.
There is nothing special about them. Special is something that is different
from the usual. Here at Georgia Law some of our special items are the contents
of our Rare Book Room as well as papers and books donated to us by faculty.
For instance, former Secretary of State Dean Rusk gave the Law Library a
small personal reading collection with many of the titles inscribed by the
author.
Our Rare Book Room contains a large number of items dealing with Roman law
and canon law, which is the body of laws adopted by ecclesiastical bodies.
A number of these volumes are hand-written or hand-annotated. Many of these
titles are held by only one or two other libraries in the world, including
the Library of Congress, Oxford University, and the Vatican library.
Anytime you are using GAVEL, our online catalog, and come across an unfamiliar
location, it probably is one of our special collections. This includes Archives
and Faculty Writings. See descriptions of the collections. Students may view
any items from these collections and can use our "green" photocopier to minimize
damage to fragile items.

Q: Quiet Zone in Annex
|
pssssssssssssst.............zip it!
|
Remember that the Law Library Annex (all floors) is designated as a Super Quiet Zone for
those of you seeking silence while studying. If you need even less noise,
please pick up some ear plugs on your way past the Circulation
Desk.
