Thank
you for your patience as work on the Law Library Annex heating and
cooling system has continued during fall semester. We know you've
put up with dust, noise and fluctuating temperatures. As of this week,
the engineers are finishing balancing the system's air flow. The
library staff and physical plant are still working on a few minor
repairs, but the Annex should be quiet for the remainder of the
semester.
Unfortunately, the project is not over yet. When classes end, the crew
will return to replace the air handlers in the mechanical room of the
Annex. Depending upon the outdoor temperatures, we may experience
temperature fluctuations during the final phase of the project. One
thing is for certain: when you return in January, the system should be
fully functional. Here's to a toasty January and again, thank you for
your patience.

Welcome Back, Doug Bell!

Douglas Bell, our original
night circulation staff member, has returned to that position at the Law
Library. We hated to see him leave three years ago when he and his wife Szilvia
decided to return to her native Hungary. We missed his diligence but more
than that we missed our friend. He spent his time in the city of Szeged teaching
English which is what he did the first time he lived there. Luckily for us,
Doug and Szilvia missed Athens enough that when was time for them to come
back to the States, they chose Athens as their home again. Luckier still
for us was that his old job had just opened up, and we were able to get him
right back where he belongs.

| World Constitutions Illustrated
|
|
| We have plenty of resources to help you celebrate Constitution Week (September 17-23) this year, including a great Hein database called World Constitutions Illustrated
(WCI). Use WCI to access current and historical constitutional law from over
190 countries. In addition to providing the current constitution for each
country in its original language, WCI includes constitutional histories. |
|
The database also provides access
to thousands of books and articles on constitutional law. A "news feed"
function provides links to current news stories relevant to each
country's constitutional and political development.
WCI is available through Hein Online (linked from our Research Resources page).

| Law Dawg of the Month |

The September Law Dawg is Liberty "Libby" Flynt, who had to rely on her person, 3L C. Brad Flynt, to submit this photo because she currently has no internet privileges.
All
members of the Law School Community (students, faculty and staff) are
invited to submit a photo for possible selection as the Law Dawg of the
Month in upcoming issues of Amicus Briefs. The featured entry
for each issue will be selected at random from all entries received by
the issue's deadline. Please note that honorary Law Dawgs (i.e.
those of the feline, equine, porcine, avian, etc. persuasion) are eligible as
