2nd Geneva-Zurich Seminar on Sustainable Finance

University of Zurich - 25 March 2021

Sustainable Finance and Digitalisation

Call for papers

The Chair for Law and Finance at the University of Zurich, the Centre for Banking and Financial Law (CDBF) at the University of Geneva, and the Research Network for Sustainable Finance (SUSFIN) are hosting the 2 nd Geneva-Zurich joint seminar on 25 March 2021, to explore to what extent digitalisation and sustainable finance are intertwined.

Sustainable finance is increasingly gaining momentum around the globe, and digital technologies have a key role to play in this transformation of the financial sector. Thanks to digital finance, a large amount of data is available more quickly and at lower cost. Digital finance also increases overall transparency for market participants and access to information related to sustainable investments. Fintech, such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and the internet of things, create opportunities for a more efficient integration of environmental and social criteria into finance and investment decisions. The digital transformation of the financial sector may also promote greater inclusion and innovation, thereby increasing opportunities for individuals and businesses to participate in the financial value chain and unlocking new business models.

We are calling for research papers to be presented from diverse disciplines, in an effort to promote a more holistic perception and integrated research approach to understanding sustainable finance and regulation. The event is open to senior and junior academic scholars interested in the field of sustainable finance and regulation, as well as practitioners.

If you would like to submit a paper for this seminar, you are kindly requested to send a brief abstract of your paper (600 words), no later than 1 February 2021, to xenia.karametaxas@rwi.uzh.ch.
