Faculty of Turku organizes the 8th annual Legal Research Network Conference 10.-11.9.2015. The conference is part of cooperation between the Faculties of Law of the Universities of Bristol, Budapest (ELTE), Ghent, Göttingen, Groningen, Lille-Nord de France, Turku and Uppsala.
Cybersecurity has become a critical national security and corporate security problem in the last fifteen years. Examples include hackings of the Pentagon, SONY, Target, JPMorgan Chase, Home Depot, various universities, and hospitals. A lively debate is now raging in Congress, academia, and in the corporate world over what steps should be taken. Attorneys are at the forefront of the problem in advising clients and securing confidential information. What duties do attorneys and corporations have to prevent a cyberattack? What duties do attorneys and corporations owe to their clientele?
The symposium will survey academic topics about how death, and fear of death, affects the law of the living. What better situs for this topic than Savannah, Georgia—a city both haunted and charmed by the dead, where spectral imprint often trumps that of the living.
CALL FOR PAPERS MELBOURNE JOURNAL of INTERNATIONAL LAW The Editors of the Melbourne Journal of International Law (‘MJIL’) invite submissions on areas of interest in international law for volume 16 issue two. MJIL will also consider submissions that do not necessarily fall neatly into the traditional public/private international law categories, including transnational law issues, domestic court interpretations of international law and submissions that adopt a comparative law approach to analyse international law. Issue 16(2) will be published in December 2015.
