The Law Department of the European University Institute (EUI) is delighted to share this call for papers for a two-day Doctoral Forum on International Law which will be held at the Department of Law, Villa Salviati on the 23 & 24 November 2020 with the support of the European Society of International Law. THEME International lawyers entering the field of international law today are met with a competitive field and challenges such as the rise of populism, growing economic inequality, climate change, and unraveling global cooperation.
Topics include: The latest advances in brain science and their implication for legal theory and practice; the relationship of free will and neuroscience; criminal responsibility and neuroscience; the treatment of neuro-atypicals and the law (whether seeking accommodations at work and school, discrimination in public and private settings, misunderstandings with law enforcement); and the range of addictive behaviors and the law.

This year’s focus will be on “The Future of Dispute Settlement in International Economic Law” given that new forms of dispute settlement are emerging, whereas others are in deep crisis.
