CALL FOR PAPERS: Symposium The Global Medicine Challenge: The Fine Line Between Incentivizing Innovation and Protecting Human Rights 

Call for Abstracts:
We are proud to announce that the annual symposium sponsored by the Whittier Law Review, entitled The Global Medicine Challenge: The Fine Line Between Incentivizing Innovation and Protecting Human Rights, will be held November 8, 2013 at Whittier Law School in Costa Mesa, California. This symposium is offered jointly with Whittier Law School’s Center for Intellectual Property Law and Center for International & Comparative Law.

We invite you to submit abstracts (of 500 words or less) on themes related to the symposium topic. Areas of particular interest may include domestic and/or international law and policy surrounding patenting of medical devices and pharmaceutical products; access to medicine; protection and appropriation of indigenous remedies; medicine and human rights; and other related topics.

Please submit abstracts electronically to wlrsubmissions@law.whittier.edu no later than September 23, 2013. Selected presentations will be notified by October 3, 2013. Please provide a curriculum vitae and a cover letter along with an abstract submission. Travel assistance funds will be available for participants without institutional support. Accepted papers will be strongly considered for publication in the Whittier Law Review’s symposium issue.
