Approaching the 150th anniversary of the Thirteenth Amendment, we find ourselves in a period of heightened concern about issues of economic inequality. If any provision of the United States Constitution speaks to those issues, it is the Thirteenth Amendment. The Amendment’s proponents maintained that it established “freedom” and a “free labor system,” a view eventually accepted by the U.S. Supreme Court.
The student chapter of the American Constitution Society at Barry University School of Law is hosting the First Annual Constitutional Law Scholars Forum at the Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law Campus, 6441 East Colonial Drive, Orlando, FL 32807.
New Media and Old Metaphors Symposium. NSU Law, in conjunction with the Nova Law Review, and NSU Sports and Entertainment Law Society will organize the 2015 annual Nova Law Symposium February 12-13, 2015. The focus of the conference is to provide an interdisciplinary review of issues involving business and industry responses to the transformative impact of new media on traditional entertainment and media, including journalism, sports, film, broadcast, gaming, music, and similar areas.
The University of Missouri Law Review is issuing a call for proposals for an upcoming Works-in-Progress conference, which will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2015, in conjunction with the Missouri Law Review’s Symposium, which will take place the following day Friday, February 27, 2015.
