Georgia Society for International & Comparative Law Speaker

Monday, February 25, 2013 - 1:30pm to 2:20pm
Room A (120) - Hirsch Hall

Please join the Georgia Society for International & Comparative Law in welcoming Mr. Ashby Pate on February 25th at 12:30 in Room A. Mr. Pate is an Associate at  Lightfoot, Franklin & White and newly appointed Justice to the Supreme Court of the Republic of Palau. Before joining the firm, Pate served as judicial clerk to United States District Judge U.W. Clemon in 2007-2008 and, most recently, as Senior Court Counsel to the Supreme Court of the Republic of Palau. In Palau, Pate contributed to legislation providing for Palau’s first ever system of jury trials, drafted the Supreme Court’s local jury trial rules, and organized jury trainings with United States Judge Consuelo Marshall of the Central District of California and Justice Alexandro Castro of the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands.

The talk, entitled "The Big Wet Now: Observations for Young Internationalists,"  will focus on his own career, and he hopes to impart some advice on pursuing a career in international law.

This event is co-sponsored by the Dean Rusk Center for International Law and Policy.

A light lunch will be served; please RSVP.
