Equipment
Availability and Functionality
All eleven "lettered" law classrooms,
ABCDEFGHIJ
& K, provide touch panel control of equipment. Basic functionality
includes: projecting anything on the screen of an Internet-connected, dedicated
computer in each room plus use of a PowerPoint remote, a 3D overhead projector, DVD
and VHS projection (latter may be used to project playback from a digital camera), University Cablevision, as
well as a
wireless microphone in all but the small rooms (DEHI). All rooms have a laser pointer. Wireless access is widely available to the law school community.
Projecting
a laptop in any of the rooms does NOT require a key. Users with a Macintosh laptop must provide their own special adapter.
For equipment demonstrations, questions or cabinet access
(5H3 key), contact the Law
Help Desk Monday-Friday 8 to 5 p.m. (54)2-0895 or Law Computing
Services Instructional Support Specialist, JoEllen Childers, joellen@uga.edu, (54)2-9120.
Conference organizers or other presenters need to submit the online Multimedia Equipment Request Form at least two business days prior to a given presentation.
Portable equipment may be available within law school facilities for spaces without a multimedia cabinet. This equipment must
be reserved (TV with VCR, digital camera with tripod,
traditional overhead projector, or portable projector for projecting a laptop).
Anyone within the Law School community may
request use of classroom(s) (here for online request)
The Cheeley
Room provides Internet as well as University Cablevision, DVD and
VHS projection via a 60'
plasma screen. The room's dedicated PC includes standard programs and internet,
multiple USB ports and a CD drive; screen and equipment projection choices made via wall-mounted touch panel
Rooms A&B
are equipped for "overflow" - permitting people in one of the
rooms to see
and hear what is happening in the other room. So, the cabinets
include a
cassette tape player, a hand-held "club" wireless mic and a camera at
back
of each room with basic scene-selection controls available from the touch screen.
Future
& Past Multimedia Development
Preliminary work has been done on
the creation of an "overflow" relationship from the Hatton-Lovejoy
Courtroom to
Room J. Installation has not been possible and is not scheduled at this time.
Cheeley Room equipment easier to operate via new wall-mounted touch panel installed in Dec 2007
Rooms CDE and GHI were
renovated during summer 2006
and were ready for use first day of classes, fall term, Aug 15th.
Users
will find same equipment functionality as before with the addition of
touch control of room lighting.
During
the summer of 2002,
the former law auditorium was completely
transformed into two classroom spaces (Rooms
A & B). Also, the entire environ of Rooms
F & J was
renovated.
Our initial installation of multimedia to Rooms CFGJ was complete by
Fall
1998. Extension of multimedia functionality to all standard
classrooms was
begun in early 2002. Major improvements included addtion of touch
screen
control of equipment and greatly enhanced image projection. In
summer 2006
the physical environment of Rooms CDE and GHI was greatly improved and
the
functionality of the instructional technology equipment in those rooms
was
upgraded though the only difference obvious to users may be touch
control
of room lighting.
