Student Organizations

Many law student form lasting friendships through membership in extracurricular organizations.  Approximately 30 student groups exist to suit a variety of interests.  These organizations promote social activities for law students, sponsor guest speakers and perform community service.

Confronts pertinent issues such as environmental protection and human rights through committees and resolutions.

American Bar Association/Tort, Trial and Insurance Practice Section
Provides knowledge and leadership on trial practice and critical issues of justice that involve tort and insurance law.

American Constitution Society
Provides a forum for dialogue about progressive legal issues.

Asian American Law Student Association
Promotes education, leadership, community awareness, and communication amongst Asian and non-Asian law students.

Business Law Society
Sponsors speakers and guests to discuss and learn about business-related legal topics.

Christian Legal Society
Weekly Bible study, regional conferences, social events.

Davenport-Benham Black Law Students Association
Organizes mentoring programs, social functions, Black History Month speakers, competitive advocacy teams and events.

Dean's Ambassadors
Focuses on promotion of UGA Law in the public arena and provides maximum service for the betterment of the law school.

Double Dawg Society
Hosts social events for those students already holding a degree from the University of Georgia.

Education Law Students Association
Sponsors events and speakers related to education law issues.

Environmental Law Association
Presents annual Red Clay Conference; sponsors speakers and conducts community beautification efforts.

Equal Justice Foundation
Coordinates speakers and community fundraisers to support public interest fellowships, interacts with National Lawyers Guild.

Federalist Society
Encourages debate on the current status of public policy and the law through the sponsorship of debates and prominent speakers.

Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law
The journal is a pre-eminent forum for academic discussion on current and important international subjects.

Georgia Law Democrats
Promotes active participation in the Democratic Party and seeks to increase the political involvement of lawyers.

Georgia Law Review

Georgia Society for International and Comparative Law
Co-sponsors annual international law colloquium and speaker series as well as social events.

Hispanic Law Student Association
Encourages social interaction and educational enhancement by Hispanic and non-Hispanic law students.

Honor Court
This body serves as a court for the trial of violations and the determination of punishment in cases of guilt.

Intellectual Property Law Society
Organizes speakers, social events and mentor program.

Jewish Law Student Association
Coordinates speakers, social events, and community service.

Journal of Intellectual Property Law

Labor and Employment Law Association
Hosts competitions, workshops and lectures relating to labor law.

Law Students for Reproductive Justice
Educates and supports pro-choice law students to defend and expand reproductive rights.

Military Justice Society
Promotes and discusses issues regarding military justice.

Muslim Law Student Association
Coordinates speakers, social events and support for Muslim law students.

Negotiations Competition Team

Outlaws
Promotes education and discussion of legal and societal issues relating to sexual orientation and gender identity.

Parents and Partners in Law
Provides social and support opportunities for spouses, partners and families of law students.

Phi Alpha Delta
Organizes social activities and food drive, as well as presents legal education programs in local schools.

Sports and Entertainment Law Association
Hosts speakers and sponsors fora and field trips concerning legal issues in the sports and entertainment industries.

Student Bar Association
Law school student government organization and primary liaison between students and the administration.

UGA Law Student Animal Legal Protection Organization
Increases awareness and provides information about animal rights issues.

Women Law Students Association
Organizes mentoring program, sponsors annual Edith House lecture, leads service projects for local charities, provides networking.

Working in the Public Interest Conference
Organizes an annual conference to raise awareness and broaden the scope of public interest law
