Law School Fund Goal FY2012 - 2013

One of the law school's highest fundraising priorities is growth of the Law School Fund. The Law School Fund provides immediate funding for a wide range law school programs. The majority of the Law School Fund is used for student scholarships, but it also supports student groups, faculty projects, and alumni activities. In recent years the Law School Fund has provided the largest single source of scholarship aid for our students. This is because decreasing state support for higher education, along with competitive pressures to recruit and retain faculty, has driven increased tuition; since law students are ineligible for the Hope Scholarship and we cannot use tuition or state dollars for need or merit scholarships, private dollars from our annual fund have allowed us to continue to recruit outstanding students. Over time use of our annual fund may change, but what is certain is that a strong Law School Fund provides the School of Law with the strength and flexibility to pursue its most important strategic objectives.

Think of the Law School Fund as our checking account; we must raise the money before we spend the funds.  All expenditures are approved through an itemized budget request presented to the Law School Association Council and voted on by the greater Georgia Law alumni body during its annual meeting.  Law School Fund contributions received this fiscal year are spent next fiscal year.  Our fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30.

More than $800,000 will be needed for the upcoming academic year.  For the law school to raise these funds, we need your help.
