Jasmine Dixon, 3L

Hometown: Atlanta, GA
Undergrad: University of North Carolina, 2007

Biographical Information

Jasmine attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she earned her undergraduate and master degrees in Communication Studies, all while playing basketball for the university.  As a student-athlete, Jasmine worked hard to balance basketball and her future.  During college, she worked as a communications intern for the NBA, helping to manage the public relations campaigns for the 2006 NBA Draft and the 2006 WNBA All-Star Game.  After graduate school, Jasmine interned with Amnesty International where she helped organize and supervise fundraisers and cultivate donor relations.

Jasmine is currently a 3L at Georgia Law.  When deciding where to attend law school, she did not have a clear idea which area of the law she intended to practice.  She chose Georgia Law the broad curriculum allows her to explore several different options at once.  She chose Georgia Law because of the broad curriculum available and the foreign study and work opportunities offered, specifically the Global Internship Program and the spring semester program at Oxford, which she enjoyed in Spring 2012.  Her current interests now include civil and corporate litigation, alternative dispute resolution, and trademark and copyright law.

For Jasmine, the decision to attend Georgia for law school was the right one.  All the stories of cut-throat competition between classmates before she came to law school have proven untrue.  She not only learns with her classmates, but from her classmates.  Jasmine is also extremely happy with the accessibility and effectiveness of the faculty.  They answer questions one-on-one after class and keep their doors open throughout the week.  Jasmine loves being a part of the camaraderie fostered by Georgia Law - something she enjoys both in and out of the classroom.

Jasmine likes living in Athens - much more than she thought!  It is a college community that caters to college students and fosters school pride. It is easy to navigate and offers a variety of things to do off campus, for example, bowling, movies, the mall, and local restaurants.
