UGA Law Library Newsletter, August 1996
Welcome Back
Greetings to our new students, and welcome back to returning students
and faculty. We hope
you had a great summer. While you were away, the Law Library staff was busy planning for
the new academic year. Some of our biggest projects are the most visible, including the
move
of the Copy Room to the Main Floor and the new Computer Lab, also on the Main Floor.
Read on to find out more!
New Computer Lab Opens on Main Floor
For added convenience, we are opening an additional general purpose computer lab on the
Main Floor, along the wall near the Circulation Office. Look for it soon.
Lost Your Password?
We know it's been a long summer and that many of you have too many passwords to keep
up
with. Here's a quick guide to help you out.
Forgot your LEXIS id? Check with a Reference Librarian at the Reference
Desk.
Forgot your WESTLAW password? Check with a Reference Librarian at the
Reference Desk.
Forgot your CONTAC password or locked out of your CONTAC account? You
may leave
your name and CONTAC i.d. at the Circulation Office. Your password will be reset to the
original password U258PRF within a few days. If you access your CONTAC account and
see
that your account has been revoked, all you have to do is change your password. To
change
your password, type your new password (between 6-8 characters) followed by a forward
slash(/) and retype your password. In other words, to change your password to petunia, type:
PETUNIA/PETUNIA. Your password should be changed.
CONTAC DIAL-UP PHONE NUMBERS TO CHANGE ON SEPT. 7

Staff Focus
Each month, Circulation Manager Heather Turnbull will introduce a staff member to readers.
This month, Heather focuses on the library's newest employee.
Introducing...Myrtle Miller
The Law Library has a new staff member in the Circulation Office. Her
name is Myrtle
Miller and she joins our Law Library from Middle Georgia College in Cochran, Georgia.
Myrtle has over 10 years of library experience. At Middle Georgia College, Myrtle worked
in
Cataloging; here, she is trying her hand at Public Services. Her duties include processing
interlibrary loan requests--both lending and borrowing--and handling CONTAC accounts
for law students. For more information on either of these services, please see Myrtle at the
Circulation/Reserve Office.
And how does Myrtle evaluate her first few months at the Law Library?
"Everyone seems
very nice. It has been pretty quiet this summer, and I look forward to school starting."
When Myrtle is away from the library she enjoys the company of her three
children and her
young grandchild, Ashley. Myrtle's other interests include camping, cooking, and
pleasure-reading, including the works of the late Georgia author Eugenia Price. When asked
what
brought her north to Athens, Myrtle replied, "My husband's mother grew up in Winder and
he always enjoyed the area. We thought it might be cooler here, but it is not. But at least the
gnats aren't as bad!"
Copy Room Moving to Main Floor
Within the next few weeks, the photocopiers will be moved from their current location on the
3rd Floor to a more convenient location on the Main Floor, just opposite the Circulation
Office. Copies on the three book copiers, which do not reduce/enlarge, cost .10 each. Copies
on the fourth copier, which is equipped with a document feeder and will reduce/enlarge, cost
.15 each. Payment can be made with cash (bills and coins), copicard or credit card. Purchase
Copicards from a vending machine located in the Copy Room. Please note that Main Library
copicards cannot be used in the Law Library's photocopiers.
