| Meet New Accounts Manager Cheryl Solomon |
|
The
Law Library is delighted to welcome Cheryl Solomon
as our new Accounts Manager. She will take over the transactional and record keeping
responsibilities of the recently-retired Joan Logan. Cheryl brings with her
extensive experience as an Accounting Technician at UGA's Physical Plant.
Cheryl moved
to Athens a little over seven years ago from New Jersey, but she is originally
from Jamaica
and enjoys cooking Caribbean food, such as jerk chicken (hmmm...when's
our next potluck?!). She has two children: her 17 year old son is a student
at Cedar Shoals High School and plans to join the Navy, while her 13 year old
daughter attends Coile Middle School and intends to become a lawyer! In
addition to action and suspense movies ("Crash" is a recent fave), Cheryl
enjoys playing tennis.
Cheryl is
currently working in the Technical Services area on Annex 1 but you can also
expect to see her often in the Law Library's Administration office
on Annex 2.

| Portable Audiovisual Equipment Available for Checkout |
|
Many members of
the Law School community utilize the permanent multimedia resources available
in all of the Law School's classrooms. Occasionally, a need arises for access
to portable equipment outside of one of these classrooms The Law Library
provides camcorders, televisions
with VCRs, traditional overhead projectors, and portable LCD projectors and
screens for use with laptops to Law School students, staff, and faculty on a first come-first served basis.
Requests for portable A/V equipment must comply with the Law Library's Portable Audiovisual Equipment Policy policy. Major points of this policy include:
- The equipment can only be used for Law School classes or sponsored events; requests for non-Law School events should be directed to UGA Instructional Support and Development at 542-1582.
- Reservations
for portable equipment can be made either through the Circulation Office
(542-1922) M-F, 8am-5pm, or by sending a message to lawav@listserv.uga.edu
- Requests must be submitted by 2pm of the business day before the equipment is needed
- Law students may only use this equipment in the Law School and must cite a sponsoring faculty member in the request
- Those using camcorders must provide their own videotape
Note that laptop computers are checked out through Leslie Grove in Computing Services.
Direct any questions about the Law School's Portable Audiovisual Equipment Policy to lawav@listserv.uga.edu.

The December 2005 issue of the AALL Spectrum features a series of photographs taken by law librarians during National Library Week (April 10-16, 2005) reflecting the
diverse activities undertaken by law librarians during a given week. Three
of the photographs submitted by our Law Library were included in the issue,
including the photograph below of a staff meeting in the Sanders Boardroom.
