The Law Library,
specifically the Sanders Reading Room and the Circulation
and Reference areas have undergone significant changes
in the last couple of years. Check
here for more information and before and after
pictures.
Now it's
time to tackle the Annex. The Annex will be carpeted
and painted, this includes the two computer rooms.
We've also ordered new chairs for the computer rooms.
As you might imagine carpeting a library involves
taking the books off the shelves, moving the shelves,
and then putting everything back again. The project
is expected to take about six week beginning in
July and continuing until just before school starts.
We've
long wanted to bring all of our microform cabinets
together. Currently they're spread throughout the
annex and block the free-standing staircases. To
do this we'll be removing the carrels on the first
floor of the Annex. You can see them in the picture
above. Additional carrels and apron tables will
be located throughout the Annex. We're also adding
a few seats in the basement (after we clean and
paint). Here are some before shots of the basement.
The carrels
on the balcony are being spruced up. They've already
been rewired so the outlet is above the desktop.
The drawers and runners have been removed for knee
room and we've put comfortable, rolling chairs in
each carrel. They'll also be painted. What this
means for you is a cleaner, more attractive study
and research environment with no loss of total seating
capacity.
