Testing the Exam-Taking Procedure on Your Computer

First, open a web browser and log in to the wireless network. (If you are not on campus, you may use any internet connection.)

Double-click on the "SofTest" icon on your desktop and choose "Download Exam Files."

Log in with your UGA MyID and your 4-digit anonymous exam number (this should have been e-mailed to you from the Registrar's office. If you have not received it, please contact lgrove@uga.edu or the Registrar's office). Leave the "Exam Download Password" blank.

Choose the file "Mock_Exam.xmz" and click "Download," then "OK" and "Close" to return to the "SofTest Launcher."

On the "SofTest Launcher" window, click "Launch SofTest."

Choose the file you just downloaded from the list under "Exam File Location."

When you choose an exam file, all blanks should automatically be filled in. (For an actual exam, you'll need to fill in the "Exam Password" blank. The password will be written on the board in the classroom.)

Click "Begin Exam" and follow the instructions given.

When you have typed for a while and are satisfied that your computer is behaving properly, exit the exam.

When your computer reboots, SofTest will attempt to upload the answer file. If necessary, open a web browser and make sure you're connected to the internet, then return to the SofTest dialog box and click "Yes."

READ the upload notification to your @uga email account (note: most such notices indicate successful upload but some will say not successful).

If you're ever in doubt as to whether your answer file was uploaded, open SofTest and click "Download History." Your web browser will open a record of all the exams you have taken. (This record of your up- and downloads with ExamSoft also available at www.examsoft.com/ugalaw > Exam Takers > login > Exam History.)
