Overview of Georgia Law Technology
The legal world is greatly benefiting from advances in modern technology. In courtrooms, attorneys are arguing their clients' cases by reconstructing crime and accident scenes on video visualizers, projecting photos and evidence onto large screens, and citing case law their co-counsels pull up on a laptop through the networked connections at the counsel's table. In legal offices, lawyers are searching the top legal databases for case law supporting their argument or perhaps collaborating on a project electronically with a counterpart in another country. While studying at UGA, you will have the opportunity to become proficient with the latest technology available.

ELECTRONIC COURTROOM
Dean Rusk Hall features an electronic courtroom that includes four mounted cameras so that presentations can be videotaped and critiqued, a CD-ROM self-study lab and sophisticated videotape editing facilities.

WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS/STATE-OF-THE-ART CLASSROOMS

Georgia Law is "wireless" for Internet access throughout its campus. Students find access to the Internet enhances their ability to participate in class and to take better notes by allowing them to quickly locate legal texts, word definitions or news items during classroom discussions.

All classrooms feature multimedia instructional technology, which will enrich your learning experience. Each room is equipped with a multimedia lectern containing a networked computer, overhead projector, visual presenter to present 3-D objects and DVD player. Numerous power outlets throughout the law school campus make it easy to utilize laptops, even to take exams.

ELECTRONIC RESEARCH TOOLS
In addition to being trained on Westlaw and LexisNexis, you will have access through the law library to numerous legal research databases ranging from legal periodical indexes to full text databases covering subjects such as tax, securities, banking, trade and international law as well as government and congressional publications databases.  You will also have access to more than 200,000 historical full text titles

COMPUTER LABS
Georgia Law provides two computer labs for its students in addition to 16 freestanding computers near the main entrance of the law library for quick tasks.

INDIVIDUALIZED E-ACCESS TO RESOURCES
All law students have access to My Georgia Law, a personalized student portal. Using
My Georgia Law, students can view their class schedules, final grades, photos and contact information of classmates. Additionally, students use the portal to view job postings, submit résumés and sign up for job interviews. Students may also use school listservs or online discussion groups to communicate with fellow students, professors or law school staff.
