Use and Copying of Unpublished Materials in the Collection

1. A researcher who wants to use unpublished material from the special collections of the University of Georgia Law Library must make arrangements in advance with the director of the library or her/his designate. The deeds of gift for some collections require researchers to obtain the permission of the donor before the collection may be made available.

2. All use must take place at the University of Georgia Law Library in the location specified by the director or her/his designate. In special cases, as when special equipment is needed, the director may give permission to remove materials from the premises temporarily.

3. No copying of any unpublished materials is permitted to be done by the researcher who is using the materials. Materials may be copied selectively by library staff, with the permission of the director or her/his designate. No box or folder of materials and no non-print materials may be copied in their entirety. The researcher is responsible for all costs of copying, including labor costs if the researcher is not a University of Georgia employee.

4. If the research results in a publication, full citation of the source and full acknowledgment of the University of Georgia Law Library must be made in the publication.

5. The researcher is solely responsible for obtaining all necessary copyright permissions. The University of Georgia assumes no liability for infringement of copyright that may occur as a result of the use of its special collections.
