School of Law clinics receive Equal Justice Works Grant for crime victims fellowship

The School of Law has received a grant from Equal Justice Works to support a Crime Victims Justice Corps Fellow for two years. Associate Professor Jason Cade and Assistant Clinical Professor Christine Scartz – who oversee the law school’s Community Health Law Partnership and Family Justice clinics, respectively – collaborated with Grants Coordinator Amanda Shaw to secure the funding for this instrumental position. The CVJC Fellow will represent immigrant victims of crime in civil legal matters, conduct outreach within immigrant communities and strengthen networks with local law enforcement and other community partners to increase access to justice for the clinics' clients.

Three faculty members complete UGA PSO Fellowship, Weeks included

Elizabeth Weeks, Abigail Borron and Jon Calabria served as 2017-18 University of Georgia Public Service Faculty Fellows. The Faculty Fellowships offer tenure-track and tenured professors an opportunity to pursue their research through a unit of UGA Public Service and Outreach. Weeks worked with the Carl Vinson Institute of Government to identify rural health challenges relating to regulations and provider shortages in rural Georgia.
