Georgia Law dominates regional mock trial tournament; advances to nationals

Two teams from the University of Georgia School of Law recently captured first place at the regional round of the 2009 Texas Bar Association National Trial Competition held in Atlanta, sweeping the tournament composed of more than 25 teams. Competing in two different divisions in the Atlanta contest, Georgia Law students overcame teams from schools such as Vanderbilt University, Emory University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.


Georgia Law to host public interest weekend focusing on social injustice

Juvenile sentencing, eyewitness testimony and economic disparity are just a few of the topics that will be covered during the 4th Annual Working in the Public Interest Law Conference: Advancing Social Justice to be held Feb. 27-28 at the University of Georgia School of Law. The two-day event will include numerous panels and roundtable discussions with notable speakers from across the country as well as a keynote address by Mary Bauer, Director of the Southern Poverty Law Center's Immigrant Justice Project, which focuses on the legal needs of migrant workers.
