UGA to debate Oxford Union Oct. 8 on campus; law students to participate

UGA Today has announced that the University of Georgia will debate the Oxford Union Debate Society Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. in the UGA Chapel. A specially assembled group of students from the law school and other programs and student organizations will represent UGA in the fifth installment of the debate, which occurs every three years. Two groups of Georgia Law students were featured in Georgia Magazine for earning national championship titles in two Moot Court competitions in 2014. Third-year students Benjamin Thorpe, Steven Strasberg and Emily Westberry won the 2014 National Moot Court Competition in February, while third-year students Maggy Randels and Utrophia Robinson won the Andrews Kurth Moot Court National Championship. The article was written by Kelly Simmons and appeared in the magazine’s September issue.
