Jackson wins UGA's Idea Accelerator pitch competition

Congratulations to third-year student Jordan L. Jackson, who won UGA's Idea Accelerator pitch competition. She competed against more than 50 other teams in her cohort to receive this award. The UGA Idea Accelerator Program, sponsored by UGA’s Entrepreneurship Program in partnership with UGA's Thinc Initiative and Four Athens, takes place twice a year in the fall and spring semesters. This 8-week "business boot camp" prepares students for the next step in their business development.  The program provides students with a board of experienced, successful entrepreneurs, advisors, and investors that help student entrepreneurs grow revenues and profits, stay focused on the right strategic issue, and develop key contacts.

UGA Alumni Association to present annual awards, alumnus Jones to be honored

The University of Georgia Alumni Association will celebrate individuals and organizations that have demonstrated a deep commitment to bettering the university during its 81st annual Alumni Awards Luncheon in April. This year’s honorees include U.S. District Court Judge Steve C. Jones, who is a 1987 alumnus of the School of Law. He will be presented with an Alumni Merit Award, which is given to those who bring recognition and honor back to the University of Georgia through outstanding leadership and service.

Mize elected president of UGA Staff Council

Congratulations to Alexander Campbell King Law Library Circulation Manager Marie R. Mize for being elected president of UGA's Staff Council. Her two-year term will start July 2018 and run through June 2020. The Staff Council aids in the process of university governance by providing sounding board for UGA staff, advising the president and participating in the University Council.
