Garbage haulers fight over contract

Lumpkin Professor of Law James F. Ponsoldt was quoted in the Fulton County Daily Report regarding a dispute in Gwinnett County over the constitutionality of exclusive no-bid garbage contracts the county awarded to two private haulers. The article was written by Ben Smith and appeared on 4/30/10.


Georgia Law moot team finishes among the top in the world

Competing against more than 250 teams from 50 different countries, the University of Georgia School of Law recently finished 17th in the world in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot last month in Vienna, Austria. The team was composed of third-year law students Jessica N. Cox, Anna W. Howard and Kate L. Jensen along with second-year law student Francis M. "Donald" Wakeford. The team was coached by Associate Professor Peter B. "Bo" Rutledge.

Carol Watson to become next law library director

Current Georgia Law Associate Director for Information Technology Carol A. Watson will become the new director of the Alexander Campbell King Law Library on July 1.  A holder of four degrees and a Georgia Law graduate, Watson has worked at the law library for more than 20 years and has been active in the American Association of Law Libraries, where she was recently elected vice president/president elect of the Southeastern chapter.  Watson will assume the director post when current Director and Professor E. Ann Puckett retires at the end of June.
