Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia School of Law recently captured second place out of more than 150 teams from across the country at the 63rd Annual National Moot Court Competition, which was held in New York City during January.
Sponsored by the New York City Bar Association and the American College of Trial Lawyers, this tournament is considered one of the most prestigious moot court competitions in the United States.
Representing Georgia Law were third-year students Lucas D. Bradley, Michael C. Gretchen and Matthew V.H. Noller. The trio defeated teams from Baylor University, Case Western Reserve University, Louisiana State University, Loyola University Chicago and the University of Pennsylvania to take home the second-place trophy. Additionally, Gretchen was named Best Oralist of the competition.
“I am so proud of our students for their outstanding performance in this tournament,” Georgia Law Director of Advocacy Kellie Casey said. “They worked tirelessly to prepare for this event, as did several of our faculty members and alumni who helped coach the team. It is rewarding to see everyone’s hard work pay off.”
