Biographical Information: 

Georgia Law alumnus J. Stephen "Steve" Shi currently is semi-retired from the practice of law and now assists military veterans on a pro bono basis in connection with claims matters with the Department of Veterans Affairs as an accredited representative. He is also a Peer-to-Peer counselor for the VA at the local clinic in Athens. Additionally, he is the owner and operator of a firearms training school.

Prior to opening his own firm, he was a partner in the Environmental Law Practice Group in the Atlanta office of a large multinational law firm.

Shi is also retired from the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served for 34 years as regular and reserve officer. Initially he was an infantry and special operations officer, which included a combat tour in Vietnam, and later he was a judge advocate. Shi has been recognized several times as one of "The Best Lawyers in America."
