Biographical Information

Sara Schramm joined Georgia Law in spring 2009 as the assistant director of legal career services. She provides career counseling for students and alumni of Georgia Law and assists her department in all aspects of the school’s career planning programs and services.

Until 2008, Schramm practiced as a litigation associate with Evert Weathersby Houff, a civil litigation firm based in Atlanta, where her focus was on products liability and toxic tort litigation. No newcomer to this area of law, she previously served as a product liability and toxic tort litigation paralegal at the firm now known as Blasingame Burch Garrard & Ashley in Athens and at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in New York City. At Simpson, she was initially hired to lead a team of legal assistants at the start of the Fen-Phen diet drug litigation in 1997. She continued to work full-time while attending Brooklyn Law School’s evening division, and was hired as a staff attorney after earning her Juris Doctor in 2003.

Licensed to practice law in New York and Georgia, Schramm hails from Iowa, but considers Athens home. She earned her bachelor’s degree in 1992 from UGA’s Franklin College of Arts and Sciences with a double major in history and Spanish literature. Upon returning to Athens after living for a year in Berlin, Schramm enrolled in German language coursework at UGA.
