Biographical Information: 

Stephen S. Cowen is a partner with King & Spalding's Special Matters and Government Investigations Practice, where he focuses on internal investigations, white collar criminal defense, civil fraud and whistleblower litigation, and corporate compliance programs. As a member of the state bars of Georgia, Florida and the District of Columbia, Cowen's clients include major health care providers and suppliers, pharmaceutical companies, government contractors, manufacturers and financial institutions.

He has previously worked as the court-appointed U.S. attorney in Atlanta and as first assistant and chief of the Criminal Division and chief of the Civil Division in the Atlanta U.S. Attorney's Office. A frequent lecturer on corporate investigations and criminal defense, Cowen has been named to The Best Lawyers in America list, as well as the Chambers USA list as a leading white-collar criminal defense lawyer. He earned his bachelor's degree from Emory University and his Juris Doctor cum laude from Harvard University.
