SBA's Annual Bull Roast

August 23, 2013, 6:00 pm

Sutherland Courtyard

Bull Roast is the annual "welcome back" BBQ hosted by the Student Bar Association at the University of Georgia School of Law. In addition to a BBQ buffet, attendees will also enjoy live music and complimentary refreshments. Bull Roast has long been a tradition at Georgia Law to give students the opportunity to reunite after the summer break and meet incoming, first-year students. Faculty, friends, spouses, and significant others are all invited to attend 

BBQ Buffet includes: pulled pork, chicken, slaw, baked beans, bread, and choice of tea or water. Special dietary needs will be accommodated by filling out the appropriate page in the registration form.

 

  

Mentor Program Mixer

Transmetropolitan Upstairs

The Mentor Mixer is a yearly event sponsored by SBA that kicks off the Mentor Program. Mentors from the 2L and 3L class are assigned mentees from the incoming 1L class, transfer students, and LLM students. The mixer allows Mentors and Mentees a chance to socialize and get to know one another before the semester begins in earnest.  This is an event that is always well attended that you will not want to miss.

SBA will be serving complimentary pizza to all attendees. Vegetarian options will be available; however, the event is first-come, first-serve. For more information on the mixer, contact Crighton Allen, SBA's Mentor Program Director, at ctallen@uga.edu.

 

  

Football Tailgates

Sept. 7, 21, & 28; Oct. 12

North Campus Quad
During UGA football season in the fall, SBA is proud to cheer on the Georgia Bulldawgs by hosting tailgates in front of the law library on North Campus for all students. Some tailgate are co-sponsored by regional law firm or various UGA Law student organizations. Come support the Bulldawgs and hang out with your fellow Law Dawgs!

 

Halloween Party

October 30, 2013
The Halloween Party is hosted by SBA and the OUTLaws every year. On years when the Georgia-Florida game interferes with the regular holiday the event is adjusted accordingly. There is also a costume contest for the best dressed law students with prizes from area businesses.

 

1L Open Memo Party

November 2013
Each year, the first year class officers organize the Open Memo Party for their classmates. The party takes place the evening of the day that the first year Legal Research & Writing Open Memo is due. Past events have taken place at Athens establishments, including BarCode & Magnolia's.

 

2L Over the Hump Party

January 2014
The second year Over-the-Hump Party is a celebration in January, after second years have finished three of their six law school semesters.

 

3L "Days" Parties

Spring 2014
Organized by the 3Ls, the Days Parties take place throughout the year to celebrate 100 Days, 75 Days, 50 Days, and 25 Days until Graduation.

 

1L Brief Party

February 2014
Similar to the Open Memo Party, the first year class officers organize the Brief Party to celebrate the completion of the Legal Research & Writing Appellate Brief.

 

SBA's Talent Show: Law Revue

March 2014
Law Revue consists of music and comedic performances by UGA Law students. Held each year at the 40 Watt Club, the show always proves to be a great night of entertainment in the days before spring break. Whether you enter the lineup and display your talents or come watch your friends, the Law Revue will leave you smiling!

 

Barrister's Ball

March 2014
Each year SBA hosts the Barrister's Ball, creating an opportunity for friends and significant others to join with law students, dressing up and spending an elegant evening dancing and enjoying each other's company. Past venues have included Hotel Indigo, the Melting Point, and the State Botanical Gardens, but for the past two years, we hosted the soiree at the legendary Georgia Theatre. This spring we will be returning to the Georgia Theatre, making this something you definitely don't want to miss!

 

EJF Auction

Spring Semester 2014
SBA assists the Equal Justice Foundation in hosting the EJF Auction which raises funds for scholarships to enable law students to work with public interest organizations over the summer. The auction usually ncludes everything from artistic items to dinner with UGA Law professors. Professors generally serve as auctioneers making for a very fun night. 

 

UGA Law Golf Tournament

Spring Semester 2014
Each Spring, SBA organizes its annual Golf Tournament, inviting students and lawyers from regional law firms to spend an afternoon playing the links of local golf courses. Food, drinks and t-shirts are provided using law firm entry fees. Come on out for a great time! This years tournament will be held at Lane Creek Golf Club.
