The Edith House Committee was honored to host Chief Justice Carol Hunstein of the Georgia Supreme Court as this year's Edith House Lecturer. Chief Justice Hunstein visited the School of Law on March 9, 2011 and shared her insights as a woman in the judiciary and a woman in the law generally.
A graduate of Stetson University College of Law, Chief Justice Hunstein is the current sitting Chief Justice of the Georgia Supreme Court. Upon her election, she became the second woman to ever hold a permanent position on the court; she is currently the only female Justice on the court. Chief Justice Hunstein’s other achievements include serving as Chair of the Georgia Commission on Gender Bias in the Judicial System and formerly holding the position of district director for The National Association of Women Judges. She has been the recipient of numerous awards, including several which specifically commend outstanding work in the law by women.
