Call for papers:

The organizers are pleased to invite abstracts for further papers on the theme of the conference. Abstracts of between 500 and 750 words should be submitted by 15 June 2016. Up to four papers will be chosen. The selected papers will be due on 1 August 2016. Conference fee will be waived for successful authors and Accommodation in Cartagena, lunch and dinner will be covered for successful authors. Unfortunately, no assistance with the costs of travel will be provided. Each of these papers will be distributed in advance and, they will be discussed at workshop on August 26. The organizers hope that all the papers presented in the conference will subsequently be published in a collection of new work on the topic.


Public lectures last one hour: 40-45 minutes for presentations and 20-15 minutes for questions. In the workshop, we will take sessions of 45-60 minute to discuss one or two papers. The presenter has 5-10 minutes to present the core of his argument, and the remaining time will be devoted to discussion, commentaries and questions from the audience. The workshop will be held in English.


All the activities will be held in the Campus Cloister of St. Augustine, located in the Walled City of Cartagena – Historical Downtown (Cra. 6 - Calle de la Universidad # 36-100).


The University will provide a list of accommodation in the Historical Downtown, with special prices for members of the Network.

Travel Information:

Cartagena’s Airport receives several international flights, specially from USA. There are also many connecting flights travel via Bogota or Panama.

General Info:

Cartagena is a touristic and safe city, you can walk and explore freely. You can communicate in English and use American Dollars in many hotels, restaurants and stores. There will be a group of bilingual students in charge of assisting you. This is a very warm city (28-32 Celsius in August), so it is not mandatory to use formal suit, jacket, ties, etc.
