Call for Papers -2018 Legal Writing Institute Biennial Conference
he Program Committee for the 18th Biennial Conference of the Legal Writing Institute invites proposals beginning today and through Monday, June 12, 2017.
The conference will take place at the Marquette University School of Law in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on July 11-14, 2018. The theme of the conference is "Back to School," which captures our excitement about returning to a law school setting for the first time in a decade. It also represents that moment of anticipation and transition when students return to school at the beginning of a new year to reflect, set new goals, and commit to achieve them.
While we hope to inspire you with the “Back to School” theme, the Program Committee welcomes proposals on any subject of interest to the legal writing community. Relatedly, the Committee believes that a rich and compelling program showcases a variety of voices. With that in mind, we especially encourage submissions from those who are new to our community or who may not often present at this Biennial or other conferences. Mentoring is available to those who would like guidance on preparing a proposal, presenting, or both.
For those of you have never been to Marquette or Milwaukee, the law school, which dates back to 1908, is in a bright and spacious new building, and the conference hotel is just a few minutes' walk away. Milwaukee is the largest city in Wisconsin. It sits on the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan, making it truly a water city in the middle of the country. There is much to see and do in Milwaukee! Attached is the Call for Proposals, which provides details on the submission process. All proposals must be submitted using an online form available here. To submit a proposal, you will need to create a log-on and password. When you submit, you will be prompted to include the specific information set forth in the Call for Proposals. Please review the Call before submitting.
We look forward to reviewing your conference proposals and reconvening in Milwaukee!
