UGA School of Law finishes as semifinalists at Jessup competition regionals

Congratulations to the team of second-year students Jennifer Cotton, Roger Grantham, Allison "Allie" Gowens, Lyddy O'Brien and Benjamin "Ben" Torres for finishing as semifinalists at the New Orleans regional rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. Additionally, Grantham received the Best Oralist Award and O'Brien was named the second-best oralist. The team also won second best brief at the competition.

Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives & Hosch Associate Professor Mehrsa Baradaran was featured on WUNC's "The State of Things" regarding her thoughts on the racial wealth gap in the United States. The episode titled "Will America Ever Close its Racial Wealth Gap?" was hosted by Frank Stasio and aired 2/23/18.

Chaffin featured in Athens Banner-Herald

Callaway Chair of Law Emeritus Verner F. Chaffin was featured in the Athens Banner-Herald regarding being awarded the Tom Strickland Lifetime Achievement Award from the Northeast Georgia Council of the Boy Scouts of America. The article titled "Smith: Verner Chaffin Embedded in the history of UGA" was written by Loran Smith and published 2/25/18. 

School of Law team finishes as regional finalists at Transactional LawMeet

Congratulations to second-year students Joseph Natt and Meryl See for finishing as regional finalists in the Transactional LawMeet regionals held in Ft. Lauderdale. The team also received the Best Draft award. They will now compete in the national competition, which will be held in New York in April. Third-year student Steve Zavodnick assisted with the draft and served as student coach.
