Securities and Exchange Commission Internships
On Thursday, February 8, at 12:00 p.m., attorneys from the Securities and Exchange Commission will speak with students about opportunities to intern with the S.E.C. The S.E.C. will accept up to three students through the Atlanta Semester-in-Practice course, in which students work full-time while taking courses in Atlanta. The S.E.C. attorneys will discuss the organization of the SEC, the increasing number of investigations conducted each year, and sources of SEC complaints, among other topics. They will describe the types of cases investigated (e.g., insider trading, fraud in the offering of a security, financial reporting violations and market manipulation) and will detail the S.E.C.’s investigative process.
The presenters will describe the integral role that student interns play at the S.E.C. They will describe what students do at the office as interns, and will cover opportunities for summer employment with the S.E.C.
