KIND's Atlanta field office is seeking externs to assist KIND's Atlanta office pro bono program, which matches volunteer lawyers with unaccompanied immigrant children needing representation in immigration court. Externs assist with the initial screening of unaccompanied minor children, conduct communication with child clients, adult sponsors, and other agencies, including making psycho-social and other referrals as needed. They also research current trends in immigration law and family law, country conditions, and other federal laws to assist in case preparation. Students will have the opportunity to work directly with attorneys on cases including in briefing and preparing applications for clients.
