Law school to host legal ethics & professionalism symposium

Georgia Law is hosting the 10th Annual Legal Ethics & Professionalism Symposium, titled Drawing the Ethical Line: Controversial Cases, Zealous Advocacy, and the Public Good. This day-long event will take place on Friday, Oct. 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. in Classroom A of Hirsch Hall on UGA's North Campus. The symposium will examine the difficult ethical issues encountered by attorneys in defending and prosecuting controversial or high-profile cases.

UGA chapter of Blue Key Honor Society to honor Ellington and two others with its service award

The University of Georgia chapter of the Blue Key National Honor Society will recognize three Georgians for their civic contributions at its annual awards banquet Oct. 2. Among the honorees is former UGA law school Dean and Professor C. Ronald Ellington. Ellington is being recognized for his career in the field of law and for his continuing support for academic programs at UGA.

Alumnus Morehead named senior vice president for academic affairs and provost at UGA

Georgia Law alumus Jere W. Morehead (J.D.'80), vice president for instruction and the Meigs Professor of Legal Studies at the University of Georgia, will serve as senior vice president for academic affairs and provost. Morehead was chosen from among four finalists identified in a national search to fill the second-highest position in the university’s administration. He will succeed Arnett C. Mace Jr., who will retire on Jan. 1.

Former solicitor general of Hong Kong to discuss U.S.-China relationship

Former Solicitor General of Hong Kong Daniel R. Fung will be delivering a lecture at Georgia Law titled "The Post-Financial Crisis World Order: Sino-American Relations in an Age of Economic Turmoil." The lecture will take place Friday, Sept. 25, at 12:30 p.m. in classroom B of Hirsch Hall.
