Air Travel

The nearest airport to Athens is Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta, Georgia. The busiest airport in the world, Hartsfield-Jackson is the home airport for Delta Airlines and a focus airport for Southwest. The airport serves most other low-cost airlines. The airport offers a large number of non-stop flights to and from communities around the U.S. The airport is located roughly 80 miles from downtown Athens.

Shuttle

Regular shuttle service exists between Hartsfield-Jackson Airport and Athens, through Groome Transportation. Reservations in advance are required. Fares cost costs $39 one way, $78 round trip. Shuttles run every hour. We have confirmed that Groome Transportation can add shuttles if reservations exceed the capacity of the regular schedule.

Rental Cars

All major rental car companies operate out of Hartsfield-Jackson Airport. Prices will vary, depending on rental car company and model of car. As of December 2017, for a rental between March 8 and March 11, prices range between $90 and $160. We recommend reserving early.

For those with cars, parking will be available in a campus parking deck about a block and a half from the Law School. We expect to have a limited number of parking passes available for that deck. Parking is also available in a municipal parking deck about 4 blocks away from the Law School.

Public Transportation

Athens has an extensive public transportation system, through the Athens-Clarke County Transit System. Fares are $1.75 per trip, or $1.00 for senior citizens (65+). The Transit System web page has links to maps and to routes for transport from the hotels listed below.

Taxi / Uber / Lyft

Local taxis, Uber, and Lyft all offer service within Athens.
