The University of Georgia School of Law welcomes your input, participation and support and offers many ways in which you can volunteer to help your alma mater.
Alumni Leadership:
Two alumni organizations serve the University of Georgia School of Law and work to establish stronger connections with alumni: the Board of Visitors (BOV), Law School Association Council (LSAC). If you would like to serve as a representative on one of these vital groups, please contact the leader of the particular organization.
Committee Service:
-
The Law School Association has four supporting committees, chaired by an LSA representative and comprised of alumni volunteers and a law school staff liaison. Contact the LSA president if you're interested in serving on any of the following committees:
-
Admissions/Recruiting – Assists with the School of Law's recruiting effort. Alumni members write letters to applicants, contact them via telephone or e-mail, meet with prospective students personally, and/or attend receptions and Open House events.
-
Distinguished Service Scroll – Reviews nominations and determines the recipients of the Law School Association's highest honor for service to the law school and legal profession.
-
Development – Helps the Law School Advancement Office create and implement fund-raising programs to benefit the law school. These efforts include the law school's new reunion and firm agent programs.
-
Nominating Committee – Nominates the officers of the Law School Association Council for the following year.
-
Reunion Planning Committee – Class members sign up with the Advancement Office to help contact classmates and plan for their class reunion. These events are held by classes at five-year intervals of graduation anniversaries.
-
PREPARE Program – Alumni assist current law students by volunteering to participate as forum speakers or in mentoring, shadowing, and mock interviewing opportunities organized by the Legal Career Services Office.
-
Firm Agents – Alumni in firms with five or more attorneys serve as firm agents, encouraging Georgia Law alumni at their firm to support their alma mater with monetary assistance.
-
Class Agents – Alumni help to contact fellow classmates about the importance of giving back financially to the University of Georgia School of Law.
