Third-year student John Seay to publish article in UCLA journal

Georgia Law third-year student John E. Seay had an article selected for publication in the UCLA Entertainment Law Review. Titled "Free Fallin': Legislative Strategies for Enabling Online Music Purveyors to Achieve Success and Provide the Music Industry with a Much Needed Boost," the article will appear this summer in Vol. 17 of the journal.


Georgia Law places as national quarterfinalist in moot court competition

The University of Georgia School of Law recently finished as a quarterfinalist in the National Moot Court Competition in New York City. The team, made up of third-year students Marie E. Greene, Kevin P. Murphy and Ashley L. Scruggs, advanced to the national tier of the competition after placing first in the regional rounds held in Atlanta during November.


UGA School of Law hosts discussion on foreign investments

Georgia Law’s Dean Rusk Center and UGA’s German-American Law Society are sponsoring a panel discussion on the potential impacts of foreign investments in the United States. The lecture, titled "America For Sale? Foreign Investments in the U.S., a German Perspective," will take place on Feb. 16 at 12:30 p.m. in the Larry Walker Room of Dean Rusk Hall.


Former U.S. Sen. Max Cleland to speak at UGA law school public interest weekend

Georgia Law will host a public interest weekend Feb. 26-27. Former U.S. Sen. J. Maxwell "Max" Cleland will serve as the keynote speaker and will present "We are Public Interest" Friday night followed by a reception with a live and silent auction. Saturday will feature panels and roundtables covering topics such as prison reform, environmental justice, child advocacy, hate crimes and immigration law. The two-day event is composed of the 25th Annual Equal Justice Foundation Auction and the 5th Annual Working in the Public Interest Law Conference.


Jones wins closing argument competition

First-year law student Kimberly B. Jones won the 2010 J. Ralph Beaird 1L Closing Argument Mock Trial Tournament. Congratulations to Jones and tournament finalist Andrei V. Ionescu in addition to the other competitors for their hard work.
