Clinical Assistant Professor Brenda J. Gohr became the School of Law’s new director of the Veterans Legal Clinic in April 2026.
Currently holding the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, Gohr has more than 15 years of military service (both active duty and reserve) in the U.S. Air Force. Her work has encompassed military justice matters, operations law and civil law issues in addition to service in the Office of Disability Counsel.
Beyond her military work, she most recently served as of counsel for The Veteran’s Advocate and operated her own legal practice specializing in veteran and military law. Gohr also served as an assistant appellate defender for the Iowa Office of the State Public Defender from 2016 to 2019 and as an independent contractor for the law firm Gary Myers, Daniel Conway and Associates during 2015 and 2016.
She earned her B.A. cum laude from Bowling Green State University and her Juris Doctor from the Mitchell Hamline School of Law.
