The University of Georgia School of Law has created a new admissions pathway for prospective students who earn a bachelor’s degree from University System of Georgia institutions.
For the fall 2026 admissions cycle, students with qualifying academic credentials can apply for admission without taking the Law School Admission Test or Graduate Record Exam. Admitted students will automatically qualify for a $5,000 merit scholarship.
“The launch of the USG Scholars program truly reflects our school’s vision of matching excellence with access,” School of Law Dean Usha R. Rodrigues said. “USG institutions are dedicated to advancing the prosperity of all Georgians, our state and our nation through the power of education. As Georgia’s flagship law school, we are building on this dedication by removing barriers to access and preparing well-rounded graduates who are ready to serve both state and society.”
Assistant Dean for Admissions and Strategic Initiatives Xavier R. Brown said this new admissions pathway reflects UGA Law’s ongoing commitment to expanding access to a legal education for students across the state of Georgia. “This program offers an important opportunity for individuals who may lack access to LSAT or GRE preparation resources and helps address financial barriers commonly associated with applying to law school.”
Other than not taking the LSAT or GRE, qualifying academic credentials include:
- A minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.50
- A score at or above the 85th percentile nationally on either the SAT or ACT at the time the test was administered
The USG Scholars application period is Sept. 1 – Oct. 1, 2025. The number of USG Scholars admitted to the fall 2026 entering class will be limited. The admission process will be competitive and acceptance is not guaranteed solely by meeting the program’s minimum eligibility requirements. Further details can be found on the School of Law’s website at https://www.law.uga.edu/scholars-admission-process.
A virtual information session will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. To register, please visit: https://forms.lsac-unite.org/5813/USGScholarsInfoSession.html.
Since 2015, the School of Law has operated the UGA Scholars program that similarly allows UGA students earning an undergraduate degree from the university to apply for admission without taking the LSAT or GRE as long as they meet certain qualifying academic requirements.
