UGA Homecoming Week packed with activities for students, alumni and fans

"Heroes of the Hedges," is the theme of this year's Homecoming Week festivities, which begin Oct. 10 at the University of Georgia. Activities for students are scheduled throughout the week, and the weekend is filled with events for alumni. The School of Law's graduating classes celebrating an anniversary reunion are invited to return to the law school on Oct. 15, at 6:30 p.m. for a buffet dinner. The next day, all alumni are invited to participate in the school's 20th annual homecoming barbecue, which will begin two and a half hours before kickoff.

Third-year student Creighton receives PILC award

Congratulations to third-year law student Leigh E. Creighton, who recently received Georgia Law's Public Interest Law Council's award for outstanding public interest or pro bono work as part of the organization's fall 2010 spotlight. Creighton was honored for her work this summer with the Atlanta Legal Aid Society and for her commitment to helping special education youth.

Financial crimes expert Andrea Venegoni will present "Tackling the Crisis: An EU Perspective on Financial Investigations and the Fight Against Fraud" on Oct. 4 at 12:30 p.m. in the Larry Walker Room of Dean Rusk Hall. Venegoni has extensive experience in both international and European law and specializes in economic and monetary crimes. He is currently a national detached expert at the European Anti-Fraud Office in Brussels, Belgium, where he serves as a legal adviser.

Georgia Law is pleased to announce its participation in the "Robes in the Schools" program, which brings together a panel of judges to share their experiences, give advice and answer questions from students interested in the legal profession. The program will be held in Hirsch Hall, classroom B, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. on Sept. 30.
