Course Description
A complete study of trial strategy and preparation, including drafting and presenting pre-trial matters, examinations of lay and expert witnesses, and opening and closing statements, along with laying foundation for the admission of evidence and arguing trial objections based on the Federal Rules of Evidence. The class reviews each element of trial through the use of mock case problems with feedback on both written and oral advocacy. Students are then divided into groups to prepare and conduct full trial simulations for their final exam. This course is a prerequisite to JURI 5047 Mock Trial Competition. Students taking this course are not eligible to take JURI 5040, Trial Practice or JURI 5031, Georgia Trial Court Practice.
