The School of Law and UGA Libraries are co-sponsoring this screening of Donald L. Hollowell: Foot Soldier for Equal Justice, a documentary centering on one of the attorneys who supported Hamilton Holmes and Charlayne Hunter in desegregating the University of Georgia. The Brown Media Archives & Peabody Awards Collection is screening the documentary from their collection, with introductory remarks offered by Mary Miller from BMA.

Please join GAWL-UGA in a viewing of the documentary titled The Recall: Reframed. This film examines the 2018 recall of California Judge Aaron Persky, who lost his judgeship after handing down a sentence deemed too lenient by many in the infamous sexual assault case involving Stanford swimmer Brock Turner. The recall came at the height of the #MeToo movement, and some hailed it as a victory against rape culture, white privilege, and a system stacked against survivors of sexual violence.
Law students are aware of many of the ways that law and politics interact, of course, and often have a sense of the politics of their professors and the institution. We believe that there are also more subtle, but nevertheless, quite powerful political messages encoded in law school teaching, even by professors. In fact, we believe that those more subtle messages are among the most powerful political messages law school sends.
Learn about Public Interest Law Council's Alternative Spring Break! Students may apply to spend a week in person or virtually with public interest placements across the state. This info session will cover the placement types, application process, and advantages of participating. This session will be recorded for those who cannot attend, but live attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions.
