Since its establishment in 2014, the Community Health Law Partnership Clinic has aided more than 200 individuals. The initiative, directed by Associate Dean Jason A. Cade and serviced by law students, takes an interdisciplinary approach to immigrants’ rights through individual client representation, litigation and project-based advocacy before administrative agencies and federal courts.
Last year, the Community HeLP Clinic won the national Clinical Legal Education Association’s Award for Excellence in a Public Interest Case or Project for its work with the law school’s First Amendment Clinic and clinics from Harvard, Columbia, Texas A&M and Boston universities representing women who allegedly endured abusive gynecological treatments and medical neglect while in the custody of U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement.
