McKesson's Legal Department offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience within one of the nation's largest healthcare companies. The extern will work directly with in-house attorneys supporting healthcare, technology, data privacy, pharmacy services, and commercial contracting matters. The extern will also gain exposure to how artificial intelligence and other technology tools are being incorporated into legal workflows and business operations within a Fortune 10 healthcare company.
Type of work:
Responsibilities may include:
- Conducting legal research on healthcare regulatory, privacy, technology, intellectual property, employment, and commercial law issues
- Reviewing and drafting commercial agreements and other legal documents
- Participating in meetings with internal business clients and cross-functional teams
- Observing customer negotiations and learning how legal and business teams collaborate to address complex commercial issues
- Supporting compliance, operational, and strategic business initiatives
- Gaining exposure to McKesson's use of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies within legal and business functions, including AI governance, privacy, and compliance considerations
The extern will receive meaningful exposure to the day-to-day practice of in-house law, work closely with experienced attorneys, and gain insight into the role attorneys play in supporting business objectives in a highly regulated industry.
Note:
This is a hybrid externship with approximately one in-office day per week (preferably Wednesday) to facilitate collaboration, mentoring, and participation in team meetings.
