At Shipt, we are transforming the shopping experience and giving time back to consumers. Shoppers with Shipt handpick everything from fresh groceries to household essentials, then deliver them to your door in as little as one hour.

Shipt is seeking a law student who is interested in navigating cutting-edge legal issues and working in-house to spend a Semester with us as a part-time extern. This is a rotational externship in which you will work closely with one or more of the following Shipt’s Risk, Legal, and Compliance teams: Employment, Privacy, Litigation, Intellectual Property, Commercial Transactions, and Compliance teams on projects that further Shipt’s strategic objectives. Your externship will provide you with the opportunity to gain valuable experience while you rotate through various subject areas.

Type of work:
Under the mentorship and supervision of Shipt’s Risk, Legal and Compliance team, your responsibilities may include:

  • Researching critical areas of law and drafting memoranda, contracts, and other documents to support the Legal team;
  • Participating in hearings, depositions, strategy meetings, mediations, and negotiations;
  • Supporting the drafting of policies, guidelines, and compliance training
  • Reviewing claims, contracts, and compliance matters; and
  • Working cross-functionally with other teams to support our legal and business goals and accomplish projects that directly impact business value.

Prior Coursework or other Skills/Interests:

  • Current 2L or 3L student enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school program
  • Provide a cover letter or other written material expressing subject matter interest.
  • Strong problem-solving skills. Ability to break down problems into fundamental parts, identify root causes, synthesize findings, and make informed decisions
  • Proven ability to influence and communicate complex ideas effectively, verbally, and in writing (including comfort with Excel and PowerPoint or Google docs)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated a high level of initiative and organization, with the ability to work independently and to be resilient and adaptable
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize effectively
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. without work authorization sponsorship
