John T. Cooper is the executive vice president and head of business affairs for TKO Group Holdings and general counsel of World Championship Wrestling (WWE). TKO’s businesses include WWE, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), the IMG agency, Professional Bull Riders (PBR) and On Location hospitality, the official hospitality company of the 2028 Olympic Games. He leads a group of over 20 legal professionals located in the United States and in global offices, and he partners with TKO executives in negotiating programming, content, talent and digital rights transactions.
Previously, he was senior vice president and associate general counsel at Turner Broadcasting, where he handled legal matters for TBS, TNT, truTV, Turner Classic Movies and Turner Sports, including all of Turner’s television sports programming (e.g., NBA on TNT and MLB on TBS) and sports digital properties like NBA Digital and Bleacher Report. In addition, Cooper was the team counsel for the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Hawks and Atlanta Thrashers and was the sole attorney for the 1998, 2000 and 2001 Goodwill Games. Prior to his work with Turner, he was as an associate attorney at Troutman Sanders (now Troutman Pepper) in Atlanta.
Cooper earned his law degree magna cum laude from Indiana University (Bloomington) in 1992 and his undergraduate degree in industrial management with a minor in industrial engineering from Purdue University in 1989.
