Please be a part of the campaign for the Rajesh 'Raj' Mehta Memorial Endowment for Family Justice at the University of Georgia School of Law, which you may learn more about by watching a touching tribute featuring colleagues, friends, and family:

On May 9, 2020, Rajesh 'Raj' Mehta (J.D. '01), senior staff attorney at the Cobb County Magistrate Court known for his kindness, thoughtfulness, helpfulness, and selflessness, was tragically killed while trying to prevent domestic violence, and he heroically saved lives by his actions. You may find more details of Raj's life here:

'Raj died a hero': Beloved Cobb attorney fatally shot after confronting gunman

Raj, 45, worked as the senior staff attorney for three separate chief magistrate judges after joining the Cobb County Magistrate Court in September 2008 - former Chief Magistrate Judge Frank Cox, former Chief Magistrate Judge Joyette Holmes (A.B. '97), and Chief Magistrate Judge Brendan F. Murphy (J.D. '05).

Prior to that, he worked under Cobb Superior Court Judge Mary Staley Clark (J.D. '78). During his time in law school, Raj served as a research assistant to Professor Ron L. Carlson. He received his undergraduate degree in 1998 from Georgia Institute of Technology.

The University of Georgia School of Law is privileged to honor Raj's legacy and heart for service through a campaign to endow the Rajesh 'Raj' Mehta Memorial Endowment for Family Justice.

The purpose of the Rajesh 'Raj' Mehta Memorial Endowment for Family Justice is to provide support for scholarships, fellowships (summer, semester, or distinguished law), and/or service, academic, clinical, or professional initiatives for family justice.  Recipients will be determined by a committee appointed by the Dean of the School. Preference will be given to those who demonstrate at least two of the following characteristics:
